Ex-DLA Aspirant Confirms N10.8m Nomination Fee Refund

Busari Akinnadeju, a former presidential aspirant, confirmed the refund of her N10.8 million nomination fee paid to the Sai Democrat Leadership Alliance (DLA) in April 2026. Following her resignation from the party on May 28, 2026, Akinnadeju stated that the refund was necessary as the party did not comply with the Electoral Act 2026 regarding the endorsement of candidates.

She noted that there remains an outstanding balance of N1.2 million. Akinnadeju emphasized that the refund should not be misconstrued as a return of integrity, but rather an acknowledgment of the funds collected.

She expressed her commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian has the right to participate in the political process and stated her intention to launch a non-partisan movement called the "Dare Agenda" to pursue leadership goals for the country. Akinnadeju criticized the party's disciplinary processes and the lack of transparency in candidate endorsements.
