DLA Defends Disqualification of Presidential Aspirant Modup

The Democrat Leadership Alliance (DLA) issued a statement defending its disqualification of presidential aspirant Abisayo Modup from the party's presidential screening process. The DLA, represented by Deputy National Public Secretary Judith Aguenu, stated that Modup's claims of unfair exclusion were false and misleading.

The party emphasized that the disqualification adhered to established procedural guidelines and that Modup participated in the screening exercise but failed to secure the necessary clearance from relevant party organs. The DLA noted that three aspirants had duly purchased nomination forms and participated in the screening, which was conducted in compliance with the party's constitution.

Aguenu further mentioned that no aspirant raised complaints regarding the transparency and fairness of the nomination screening process. The DLA rejected Modup's allegations of gender discrimination, asserting its commitment to women's political participation and urging members and the public to disregard misleading narratives surrounding the controversy.
