Ekiti Police Urge Youths to Reject Thuggery Ahead of 2026

The Ekiti State Police Command has called on youths in Ekiti State to reject political and digital thuggery, violence, cultism, cybercrime, and hate speech, emphasizing that such actions could jeopardize their futures. This appeal was made in a statement by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, on Wednesday, as part of the 2026 International Youth Day celebrations.

The event, themed “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” is designed to enhance police-youth engagement and encourage positive contributions to peace and community development. Scheduled from August 20 to 22, 2026, the program will begin with a youth awareness walkathon, followed by a tree-planting exercise, and culminate in the launch of the National Campaign Against Political and Digital Thuggery, including a police-youth dialogue and panel discussion.

Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Michael, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to engaging with youths and fostering partnerships to promote peace and security in the state.
