Motorists Decry Slow Progress on Kabba–Omuo–Ekiti Road

Motorists using the Kabba–Omuo–Ekiti road have voiced their concerns regarding the slow pace of construction, which has led to frequent gridlocks, vehicle damage, and loss of man-hours. The road is vital for economic activities, linking communities in Kogi and Ekiti states.

The construction began under the supervision of the Federal Government, but the pace has been criticized by local transport unions, including the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Ekiti State, represented by Chief Omotayo Falop. The road, spanning 104 kilometers, was initially awarded to CCECC Nigeria Limited for ₦9.99 billion but was later terminated due to inflation and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The contract was re-awarded to Gamji Construction Company, which is expected to complete the project by March 2026. Engr.
