ALGON Chairman Defends Quality of Ebonyi Infrastructure

Barrister Chinedu Augustin Uburu, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Ebonyi State and Executive Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area, defended the quality of infrastructure projects executed by Governor Francis Nwifuru. During an inspection of the Ogbogbo–Ekebeligwe Ishieke Bridge on Wednesday, Uburu stated that allegations of poor workmanship were misleading and lacked technical support.

He highlighted the transformative impact of Nwifuru's administration on local infrastructure, mentioning completed projects such as the Nwogbaga Alo Road and the Ekebeligwe-Ishieke road. Uburu clarified that a crack observed on the bridge affected only a temporary formwork and did not compromise the structure's integrity.

He urged public officials to seek expert engineering advice before making comments on construction quality. Engineer Samson Ogbonnaya Ezeali, the site manager, confirmed that the bridge was built according to approved specifications.

Local residents expressed optimism that the bridge's completion would enhance transportation and economic activities.
