Police Recover Pistol in Bayelsa, Pursue Drug Suspects

On July 4, 2026, at approximately 2:00 PM, the Bayelsa State Police Command recovered a locally made pistol during a routine patrol along Osiri Road in the Tombia area of Yenagoa. The incident occurred when police officers from the Ekeki Division observed a group of youths allegedly using illicit drugs.

Upon sighting the police patrol team, the suspects fled the scene, abandoning the firearm. The police spokesperson, DSP Musa Moham, stated that investigations have commenced to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The command has reiterated its commitment to proactive policing and has urged the public to provide credible information that will assist in combating crime and enhancing public safety across the state.
