Edo Refinery Enhances Benin-Sapele Highway Safety

Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Limited has undertaken palliative repairs on the Benin-Sapele highway, specifically targeting failed sections at Iyanomo, Ekosa, Obayantor Ologbo, and Koko junction in Delta State. Segun Okeini, Head of Technical Operations, stated that this intervention was necessary to prevent incidents like the one five years ago when an oil tanker accident in Ologbo led to a fire that killed over 20 people.

The repairs were prompted by community requests, as the poor condition of the road had been impacting the refinery's operations, causing delays for tankers accessing the facility. Solomon Uyiekpen, Managing Director of SODEOSA Global Resources, collaborated with the Edo Refinery on this project as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts.

Community member Kennedy Nwazekwu expressed that the repairs would help reduce accidents on the road, which had previously resulted in numerous fatalities.
