EFCC Invites Petitions Over Senator Kaka Lawan's N135M Gift

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has opened the floor for petitions concerning a N135,650,000 cash donation made by Senator Kaka Lawan, representing Borno Central under the All Progressives Congress (APC). This donation was distributed to party executives in the constituency as part of Eid el-Kabir celebrations.

The controversy arose after a Facebook post by Usman Alkali disclosed the cash distribution, which sparked public outrage and allegations of potential money laundering against Lawan. EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that individuals or groups who believe Lawan has violated any laws should submit formal complaints to the commission, emphasizing that the EFCC operates based on factual reports rather than social media speculation.

This incident marks the third time Lawan has made such donations since becoming a member of the National Assembly, which he claims is intended to appreciate party executives and strengthen democracy.
