Egypt Hosts UK Minister Amid US-Iran Agreement Talks

On Thursday, Badr Abdelatti, Egypt's Foreign Minister, received Yvette Cooper, the British counterpart, in Cairo. This meeting occurred in the context of a newly signed agreement between the United States and Iran, which aims to end ongoing conflicts and mitigate rising international tensions.

The agreement is expected to facilitate the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway essential for global energy supplies. It will allow Iran to sell its oil freely again and lift the blockade on Iranian ports.

The deal is anticipated to push global fuel prices down and will not preclude further agreements. US officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, indicated that the details of the draft agreement have not yet been officially released.

The ministers also discussed broader UK-Egypt cooperation, including trade and regional crisis management, particularly concerning Gaza and Sudan.
