CAN Urges Good Governance During Eid-el-Maulud Celebration

On the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), called on Nigerians to embody values such as mercy, compassion, justice, and peaceful coexistence. In his message, he congratulated Muslims nationwide and prayed for peace and blessings for their families and communities.

Okoh highlighted the significance of the Prophet's life, urging Nigerians to reflect on these values, especially during challenging times marked by rising living costs and insecurity. He expressed that citizens are weary of unfulfilled promises and called on the Federal Government and leaders to transition from promises to tangible actions that enhance security and economic relief.

Okoh also cautioned politicians against exploiting religious or ethnic differences for electoral gain ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing the importance of unity among Christians and Muslims. He expressed hope for Nigeria, contingent on responsible leadership and good citizenship, and wished Muslims an “Eid-el-Maulud Mubarak,” praying for divine blessings upon the nation.
