EKEDP Addresses Power Outages in Festac Town

Eko Electricity Distribution Plc (EKEDP) has identified the persistent power supply issues in Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin, and nearby communities as primarily resulting from transmission upgrades and ongoing vandalism of underground distribution cables. In a statement released on Wednesday by Abiola Aloba, General Manager of Corporate Communications, EKEDP explained that the recent outages were exacerbated by national transmission level improvement works.
The company noted that Festac records the highest incidence of vandalism within its network. To address these challenges, EKEDP has completed and commissioned the new Festac 3 feeder from the Ojo Transmission Station, which is set to provide an alternative power supply to Festac Town, pending final load balancing arrangements and approvals from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
Additionally, electricity supply on the Festac 1 33kV feeder has been partially restored following the isolation of a faulty underground cable, with ongoing daily fault location and restoration efforts. EKEDP has invested several hundred million naira to strengthen the electricity network in Festac.
