Ekiti Government Seals Eatery for Sanitation Violations

The Ekiti State Government has sealed an eatery in Ado Ekiti due to violations of sanitation regulations. The enforcement action was part of an exercise conducted by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, led by Mr. Tosin Aluko Ajisaf, on Tuesday.

The inspection around the Federal Polytechnic Satellite Campus junction revealed that the eatery allegedly stored waste in an underground septic tank and discharged it into a nearby drainage channel at night. These practices are capable of causing environmental pollution and contributing to the offensive odors experienced in the area.

The government strongly reprimanded the eatery's operators for maintaining unsanitary conditions and directed immediate compliance with environmental health standards to avoid further sanctions. The commission warned business owners and residents against indiscriminate waste disposal practices that could endanger public health.

The government remains committed to monitoring and enforcing environmental sanitation reforms to restore a cleaner and healthier environment across Ekiti.
