Ekiti State Launches Digital Health Initiative for Improvement

The Ekiti State government has announced plans to advance the digitalization of its healthcare services to strengthen and expand the health sector, thereby improving service delivery and health outcomes. Governor Oyebanji Filani's initiative involves adopting the national digital health architecture to achieve universal health coverage.

A 35-member technical workgroup was inaugurated in Ado Ekiti, led by Mr. Olusola Gbenga Igotun, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health.

This initiative aims to bridge existing gaps in health data management and ensure secure statewide access to health information. The digital health commission will unify health registries, electronic medical records, and data exchange systems to promote data-driven decision-making.

Ayodel Adeyanju, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy, expressed confidence that the initiative will enhance healthcare service delivery. Dr.

Charl Doherti, the General Manager of the Ekiti State Health Insurance Scheme, emphasized that digital healthcare services are critical for improving healthcare quality. The technical workgroup's formation marks a significant milestone in advancing digital health in Ekiti State.
