Kogi FRSC Implements Traffic Management Strategy for Ember Months

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kogi State has introduced a comprehensive strategy aimed at managing traffic congestion and minimizing road crashes during the Ember Months, which are characterized by increased commercial activities and social events. Kogi State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Lawan Fagge, announced this initiative during a stakeholders’ meeting at Government House in Lokoja.

He highlighted that the last quarter of the year poses significant challenges for road safety due to heightened vehicular and human traffic. The FRSC plans to enhance its annual Ember Months campaign through proactive planning, strict enforcement, public enlightenment, and rapid emergency response.

Key measures include early morning personnel deployment to prevent traffic gridlocks, particularly from one-way driving, and addressing critical traffic bottlenecks at locations such as Nataco, Banda, Magajiya, and Gaba Hills. The FRSC will collaborate with agencies like the Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Police Force, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to form a joint task force for effective traffic control.

Dr Suberu Yusuf John, Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Road Safety Matters, emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring smooth traffic flow during the festive season.
