Tim Curry, Iconic Actor, Dies at 80 in Los Angeles

Tim Curry, an English actor and singer, died at the age of 80 at his home in Los Angeles on August 25. His longtime manager, Marcia Hurwitz, confirmed his death.

Police responded to his residence later that night, and no foul play is suspected. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Curry gained fame for his portrayal of Dr. Frank-N-Furter in ‘The Rocky Horror Show’, a role he first performed on stage before reprising it in the 1975 film ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’, which became a cult classic. He also garnered a new generation of fans through his role as Pennywise the Clown in the 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘It’.

Other notable performances included Wadsworth in ‘Clue’, the Lord of Darkness in ‘Legend’, Long John Silver in ‘Muppet Treasure Island’, and the hotel concierge in ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York’. Additionally, Curry had a successful voice-acting career, contributing his voice to over 100 animated series, films, and video games.
