IG Tunji Disu Promises Reform in Nigeria Police Force

On Friday, Inspector General Tunji Disu of the Nigeria Police Force announced an end to the era of impunity within the police during an official visit to Edo State. Disu pledged to upgrade the traffic warden unit and engage with officers to address challenges faced by the command.

He referenced a recent incident involving a police officer who allegedly shot a civilian, highlighting the need for accountability and reform. Disu assured that efforts would be made to eliminate impunity and improve the overall discipline within the force.

He also mentioned the importance of building a police force that the Nigerian public can trust. Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mondai Agbonika, appealed for support in logistics and operational tactics to enhance police visibility and effectiveness in combating crime.

The Inspector General's visit aimed to strengthen the police's operational capabilities and restore public confidence following incidents of alleged misconduct.
