ESVARBON Inducts 420 New Surveyors at Golden Jubilee

The Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON) inducted 420 new surveyors at a ceremony marking its 50th anniversary held at the Orient Hotel. Acting Chairman Terzungw Timothy Dugeril noted the occasion as a significant milestone, bringing the total number of registered estate surveyors and valuers in Nigeria to 7,954.

He acknowledged the inadequacy of this figure relative to Nigeria's size and expanding property market. Dugeril emphasized the dual challenges of increasing the number of practitioners while maintaining high professional standards in a technologically driven environment.

He urged practitioners to embrace innovation and adapt to rapid advancements in information and communication technology. The event also featured a keynote address by Nweke Umezuruik, who lamented the lack of comprehensive historical records of the board's activities and identified structural challenges hindering its effectiveness.

Austin Otegbulu stressed the importance of ethics and lifelong learning for new surveyors, warning against incompetence and unprofessional conduct.
