Ex-IGP Mohammed Adamu Clinches SDP Nasarawa Governorship Ticket

Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, the retired Inspector-General of Police, has secured the Social Democratic Party's governorship nomination for Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 elections. The party conducted a replacement primary election on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in Lafia, the state capital, after the previously named candidate stepped aside from the race.

The substitution process came after Musa Adamu Angba, who had been listed by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the SDP's original flag bearer, withdrew from contention. This opened the path for the party to conduct fresh delegate voting across Nasarawa's 13 local government areas.

Barr. Joseph Achille, chairman of the SDP's electoral committee for the state, presided over the exercise and announced Adamu's victory.
