Investment in Solar Research Crucial for Nigeria's Energy

Dr. Sunni Akpoyibo, the President of the Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (SESN), called for increased investment in solar research to address Nigeria's growing energy needs and strengthen the country's energy security.

During the inauguration of the SESN's board of trustees in Abuja, Akpoyibo highlighted the necessity for collaboration among stakeholders and the establishment of strategies to invest in renewable energy technologies. He stressed the importance of equipping young Nigerians with technical skills and opportunities in the solar energy sector to create jobs and support national development.

The newly inaugurated board includes notable figures such as former Senator Engr. Uch Ekwunife and Vice Admiral Kari Ombu (Rtd).

Akpoyibo also announced a strategic agenda focusing on expanding membership, establishing functional committees, and developing a digital membership registration system. He emphasized the need for partnerships with government agencies and the private sector to promote youth development and broaden the reach of the solar energy forum.
