INEC Launches Real-Time Tracker for 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Monday the introduction of a real-time readiness tracker to oversee preparations for the 2027 general elections across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This initiative was presented by INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, during a two-day Strategic Operational Workshop for Administrative Secretaries in Lagos.

The tracker aims to provide immediate visibility into state-level preparations, allowing INEC to address operational challenges proactively. It will utilize a standardized, Excel-based Administrative Secretary Master Operational Tracker Template linked to the Election Monitoring and Support Centre (EMSC) dashboard and the Election Project Plan (EPP).

The system is designed to improve coordination and monitor key aspects of election preparations, including the distribution of materials and training of personnel. Festus Okoye, a former INEC National Commissioner, stated that the tracker could help identify operational gaps early, enabling timely responses to ensure smooth conduct of the elections.
