FIFA Launches Women's Football Programme in Abuja

The FIFA capacity-building programme for women's football administration in Nigeria began on June 17, 2026, in Abuja. This three-day event is organized by FIFA and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and includes 41 participants, comprising 20 representatives from the Nigeria Women Football League, three state football associations from Lagos, Yobe, and Nasarawa, and 15 NFF staff members.

FIFA appointed Thubaelihl Sibanda and Tsholofelo Setlhoko as technical experts for the programme. The opening ceremony is expected to feature NFF General Secretary Dr.

Moham Sanusi, who will discuss FIFA's overview of women's football globally. Other speakers include Professor Mariam Suleiman, who will present on mentoring the girl child, and Mr.

Moham Ameenu, who will address result-based management in football. The programme aims to explore leadership plans and develop strategies for women's football in Nigeria, with a focus on bridging the gap between men's and women's football.
