Family of Slain UNIJOS Graduate to Bury Him Today

Ibrahim Mbaya, a 25-year-old graduate of the University of Jos, was allegedly beaten to death by a mob in Jos, Plateau State. His family announced that he would be buried on Thursday in his hometown in the Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State.

His younger brother, James Mbaya, described the death as a devastating loss, particularly for their parents, as Ibrahim was the first child and male of the family. The incident occurred on Sunday at an off-campus apartment where Ibrahim had spent the night after attending a social event.

The following morning, he was accused of stealing an iPhone that was reported missing. After initially leaving, he returned to confront the accusations and was allegedly assaulted by a group of youths.

The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the arrest of three suspects: Rinji Daniel Fwanji, Emmanuel Newyear, and Nensemka Fwanji, in connection with the alleged culpable homicide. The family has called for justice, emphasizing the brutality of Ibrahim's death.
