Suspects Confess to Torturing Unijos Student to Death

Emmanuel Newyear, 30, and Teslor Joshua were paraded by the State Police after confessing to the brutal torture of a University of Jos student, resulting in his death. The incident took place on a Sunday at an off-campus apartment behind the City of David area, along Ring Road in Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State.

Newyear admitted to beating the victim with planks and canes, stating that the violence was aimed at extracting information about a missing phone. He recounted that his cousin had informed him about the missing phone, leading to the confrontation with the deceased.

Teslor Joshua also confessed to participating in the torture by holding the victim's hands while he was tied. Rinji Daniel, the owner of the phone, explained that the deceased had left to take a call and did not return, prompting the search for the missing items that escalated into violence.
