Devastating Floods Hit Taraba Communities, Homes Destroyed

Seven communities in Taraba, Nigeria, have been devastated by floods, destroying farmlands and homes. The Lau Local Government Area (LGA) was severely affected, with Kunini community suffering the most damage.

The flooding, which occurred early on a Thursday morning, displaced hundreds of residents, destroyed properties worth millions of naira, and swept away livestock. Despite warnings from the Taraba State Ministry of Environment to relocate to safer areas due to anticipated flooding, many residents remained in the affected areas.

Emergency efforts are underway to evacuate those stranded in submerged homes. The overflowing River Benue has raised concerns for nearby communities, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.
