Father and Daughter Die in Kano Well Accident

On July 21, a tragic incident occurred in Yancibi Village, Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State, where Abubakar Abdullahi, 45, and his 15-year-old daughter, Fiddausi Abubakar, fell into an abandoned dry well. The Kano State Fire Service, through its Public Relations Officer ACFO Saminu Abdullahi, reported that they received a distress call on the evening of the incident.

Firefighters from the Tsanyawa branch responded but were unable to complete the rescue due to darkness and challenging conditions. An emergency rescue team from the fire service headquarters was deployed the following morning.

They successfully recovered the victims, who were found unconscious and later confirmed dead. Preliminary findings indicated that Fiddausi accidentally fell into the well, prompting her father to attempt a rescue, which ultimately led to both of their deaths.

The Fire Service expressed condolences to the family and advised residents against entering wells without proper rescue equipment.
