FCC Commissioner Affirms Commitment to Equity in Governance

On Sunday, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, the Oyo State Federal Commissioner of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), reaffirmed the Commission's dedication to its constitutional mandate. He made this statement at a national workshop organized for the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and representatives from the 774 local government areas of Nigeria, held from August 24-25, 2026, at the Tropic Galleria in Abuja.

The workshop, themed “Deepening National Unity Through Grassroots Implementation of the Federal Character Principle,” aimed to promote fairness, equity, and inclusiveness in the distribution of socio-economic opportunities across Nigeria. Abass-Aleshinloye, who also chaired the planning committee for the event, urged local government chairmen to engage actively, as their proximity to communities positions them to identify needs and implement development initiatives effectively.

He emphasized that the success of the workshop should be measured by its tangible benefits for grassroots Nigerians, highlighting the importance of local governance in equitable infrastructure delivery.
