PDP Dominates Bwari Polling Unit in Area Council Elections

In the recent 2026 area council elections, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) secured a decisive victory at the Big Cele Settlement polling unit 076 in Duts Alhaji Ward, Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory. Official figures from the polling unit indicated that PDP garnered 74 votes in the chairmanship race, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) received only 2 votes, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) 3 votes, and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) failed to secure any votes.

In the councillorship contest, PDP achieved 75 votes, with APC polling 4 votes, ADC 2 votes, and SDP again failing to win any votes. The results were based on 140 registered voters, with 92 accredited and 11 ballots rejected, leaving 81 valid votes for the chairmanship and 82 for the councillorship.

PDP chieftain Gbenga Olawepo Hashim expressed gratitude for the residents' support, while Amanyi Judith Ada announced the results. The election was conducted peacefully, despite claims of political tension due to alleged influences from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, regarding PDP's candidacy.
