FCT Police Deny Attack on Military Officer in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has addressed circulating social media reports alleging an attack on Colonel Abdussalam A. Ude, a serving military officer, by suspected kidnappers.

The Command confirmed that the incident, which reportedly involved an attempted abduction and resulted in Colonel Ude being fatally shot, occurred on Monday evening in Badna, New Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, not within the FCT. SP Josephine Adeh, the Command’s Spokesperson, stated that CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi ordered an investigation to clarify the facts.

The police expressed concern over the false attribution of the incident to the FCT, which they believe has caused unnecessary panic among residents. They emphasized the importance of responsible journalism and urged media outlets to verify security-related information before publication.

The Command has also deployed operational and intelligence assets to border communities to prevent criminal activities from affecting the FCT and advised the public to remain vigilant.
