The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has commenced a four-day Basic Life Support (BLS) training for health workers from seven hospitals, including Asokoro, Maitama, Wuse, Gwarinpa, Kuje, Kubwa, and Nyanya. This initiative aligns with the National Council on Health’s approval for a nationwide BLS Training Programme.

The training, certified by the American Heart Association, is being held at the Conference Hall of Asokoro District Hospital and aims to enhance the ability of health workers to respond to emergencies effectively. Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, Mandate Secretary of the Health Services and Environment Secretariat, emphasized the importance of this training in improving emergency services and reducing preventable deaths.

Participants will share their knowledge with colleagues and the public as part of the National Community CPR Initiative. The training will also include a Stop the Bleeding course and will be conducted in batches, with the first scheduled for August 21-22, 2026, and the second for September 4-5, 2026.

Successful participants will receive certificates.
