FCTA Seizes 40 Vehicles for Illegal Bus Operations

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) impounded 40 vehicles on Friday, June 21, 2023, due to illegal bus operations in Abuja's Utako area. Dr.

Peter Olumuji, from the FCTA Security Services Department, disclosed that the enforcement exercise was initiated to improve commuter safety and ensure compliance with commercial transport regulations. The FCTA had previously announced the relocation of commercial transport operations to the Mabushi taxi terminal, effective June 24, 2023.

Dr. Olumuji stated that those failing to comply would face prosecution under the FCT's traffic regulations.

The FCT Transport Secretariat, represented by Mr. Usman Abdulmuminu, emphasized that adequate notice was given to the public regarding the relocation.

The Mabushi taxi terminal, set to officially commence operations on July 1, 2023, is designed to accommodate 250 vehicles and enhance passenger safety. The terminal has already processed 800 passengers and 130 vehicles, with plans to create a more organized and efficient transport service.
