FG Awards N3.8bn Solar Mini-Grid Contract in Kano

The Federal Government of Nigeria has awarded a contract worth N3.8 billion for the construction of a 2MW solar mini-grid at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology located in Wudil, Kano State. This announcement was made by Mustapha Abdullahi, the Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, during a meeting with the university's Vice Chancellor, Prof.

Musa Yakasai, in Abuja on Wednesday. The project, which is already awarded by the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, is set to commence soon and is expected to be completed within three months.

Abdullahi emphasized that this initiative is part of the Solaris program aimed at enhancing infrastructure across all states, particularly benefiting hospitals, tertiary institutions, and rural areas. Additionally, Abdullahi highlighted the earlier provision of 200 streetlights to the university, with another 200 units expected to be delivered soon, significantly improving security and creating a conducive environment for students to study at night.
