FG Supports Youth Innovations for Circular Economy

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its support for youth-led digital innovations to address plastic pollution and promote a circular economy. Murtala Umaru, a representative from the Federal Ministry of Environment, emphasized the importance of technology-driven solutions developed by young Nigerians to transform waste into economic opportunities.
The initiative was highlighted during an event in Abuja, marking the conclusion of a project aimed at enhancing plastic waste management. The project, supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Digital Peer International (DPI), aims to provide technical support and policy guidance to ensure its success.
Umaru noted that the project would significantly improve youth participation in digital capacity and promote practical solutions for plastic waste management. The project has received 46 innovative concepts from young Nigerians, with the best ideas selected for further development.
Engr Adeolu Odusot, chairman of DPI, stated that the next phase would focus on transforming youth innovations into commercially viable enterprises capable of creating jobs and solving environmental challenges.
