FG Completes 1,800km Roads, 5,400km Under Construction

The Federal Government of Nigeria has completed about 1,800 kilometers of major road projects and is currently working on an estimated 5,400 kilometers of highways, expressways, and strategic road corridors from May 2023 to May 2026. The Federal Ministry of Works reported the completion of 40 major road and bridge projects across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones during this period, with 133 additional projects ongoing.

Under President Bola Tinubu's administration, the South-West region recorded the highest number of completed projects at 12, while the South-East, North-East, and South-South regions had six each. The North-West and North-Central regions each completed five projects.

The projects include the reconstruction and dualization of highways, new corridors, bridges, and emergency interventions, focusing on key economic corridors such as Lagos-Ibadan and Kano-Maiduguri. The report indicates a significant concentration of road interventions in the South-West, with approximately 600 kilometers completed and over 1,000 kilometers under construction.
