FG Condemns Killing of Benue Miyetti Allah Leader

The Federal Government of Nigeria condemned the killing of Alhaji Ardo Risku, the chairman of the Benue chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN). Senator George Akum, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, expressed shock and outrage over the incident, describing it as a direct assault on peace and reconciliation efforts in Benue State.

Akum emphasized the need for mutual trust among communities and warned against allowing criminal elements to sow discord. He urged the Benue community to reject such attempts and called for a thorough investigation by the Nigerian Police Force and other relevant security agencies.

Following the incident, the Benue State Police Command announced the arrest of 10 suspects connected to the killing during a coordinated operation in Otukpo. The suspects were apprehended on June 27, and the police assured residents of ongoing investigations to bring those responsible to justice.

Akum reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to tackling insecurity in Nigeria.
