Miyetti Allah Chair Ardo Risku Muhammad Murdered in Benue

Ardo Risku Muhammad, the chair of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in Benue State, was reportedly murdered on Friday afternoon after returning home from a police-invited peace meeting in Ohimini Local Government Area. Muhammad's son, Idri, recounted that his father attended the meeting to address grievances between farmers and herders.

After the meeting, which lacked adequate security measures, Muhammad was ambushed and killed approximately 2-3 kilometers away from the meeting location. The family has called on the Benue State government and relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the ambush that led to Muhammad's death.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of community leaders and the effectiveness of peace dialogues. Local government officials, including Gabriel Adol and special adviser on internal security Hyacinth Alia, expressed shock at the murder and vowed to uncover those responsible for this act.
