Nigeria's Youth Minister Launches National Youth Data Bank

The Federal Government of Nigeria launched the National Youth Data Bank (NYDB) on Tuesday in Abuja, aimed at providing reliable information regarding the skills, education, employment, and entrepreneurship needs of Nigerian youth. Comrade Ayodele Olawande, the Minister of Youth Development, stated that the NYDB would help identify young Nigerians and connect them with relevant opportunities.

The initiative addresses the fragmentation of youth-related information across government institutions and is designed to improve evidence-based planning and policy formulation for targeted youth development programs. Olawande noted that the absence of comprehensive data hindered the government's ability to assess the needs of young Nigerians.

The NYDB will collect data on demographics, education, skills, employment status, and other relevant areas. The success of the initiative relies on collaboration among various government ministries, educational institutions, and civil society organizations.

The platform aims to link young entrepreneurs and graduates with opportunities in skills development and employment, ensuring inclusivity for youth in rural and underserved communities.
