Nigeria to Honor Stephen Keshi with Wall of Fame Inscription

The Federal Government of Nigeria, alongside Dr. Allen Onyema of Air Peace, will immortalize former Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi by inscribing his name on the Wall of Fame at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) in Lagos.

This recognition is to honor Keshi's significant contributions to Nigerian football and his role as a sports diplomat, which advanced Nigeria's foreign relations through football. The ceremony is scheduled for July 28, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of Keshi's burial, which took place on June 7, 2016, in his hometown of Illah, Delta State.

Segun Odegbami, a former Super Eagles captain, confirmed the details of the memorial lecture and the establishment of the monument at NIIA. Keshi, who passed away at the age of 54, was a pivotal figure in Nigerian football, having captained the national team to victory in the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 and later coaching the team to win the tournament in 2013.
