FG Reacts To Canadian Court Tagging APC, PDP Terrorist Organizations

The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to a Canadian court's decision to label the APC and PDP as terrorist organizations. The ruling was deemed erroneous and unfairly targeted millions of party members.

The judgment was made in a case involving Douglas Egharevba, a Nigerian who applied for refugee status in Canada in 2017 but was denied in 2019 due to his alleged membership in the PDP. The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the designation in the judgment constitutes unacceptable interference in Nigeria's internal affairs and democratic processes.

The ministry called on Canadian authorities to retract the designation and warned Nigerians against making unfounded allegations to seek asylum abroad.
