FG Advocates Science Partnerships for Africa's Food Security

On Tuesday, the Federal Government of Nigeria, through Senator Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, emphasized the need for stronger science-driven partnerships and increased investment in agricultural research at the Science and Partnership for Agriculture Conference (SPAC) 2026 in Abuja. This conference is part of the 9th Africa Agriculture Science Week and the 10th General Assembly of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA).

Abdullahi described SPAC as a key platform for advancing agricultural science and innovation, urging stakeholders to collaboratively develop solutions to agricultural challenges while supporting the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Kampala Declaration. He reiterated Nigeria's commitment to utilizing research and technology to enhance food security under the Tinubu administration's Renewed Hope Agenda.

Abdullahi acknowledged the progress made in establishing National Agricultural Research Systems across Africa but stressed the necessity for stronger collaboration to tackle emerging agricultural challenges, including climate change and resource scarcity.
