Nigerian Government to Pay Severance Benefits to Disengaged NEPC Staff from 2005

The Nigerian government, through the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) led by Dr. Dasuki Arabi, has reiterated its dedication to settling severance benefits owed to Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) staff who were disengaged in 2005.

A verification exercise has been initiated, with a recent flag-off in the North East region to verify concerned staff. The collaboration between BPSR, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, and other stakeholders aims to ensure that all disengaged staff, particularly those not fully paid in the past, receive their entitlements.

The government's commitment stems from the 2006-2007 public service reform that led to the disengagement of numerous public servants, some of whom have not received their dues for over a decade. The efforts have been lauded by beneficiaries like Mr.

Yagana Kalama from Borno, who expressed gratitude for the timely payments. President Bola Tinubu's role in facilitating the settlement of outstanding debts has also been commended.
