FG Launches Radio Station for Adult Education in Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria is set to inaugurate a dedicated radio station to broadcast lessons for adult non-formal education learners nationwide. Dr. John Edeh, the Director of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, announced this initiative during an interview in Abuja on a Saturday.

The project, approved by the Ministry of Education under Dr. Tunji Alausa, aims to expand access to learning in remote communities, utilizing radio as a cost-effective medium to reach marginalized populations. The station will not only broadcast literacy and vocational education programs across Nigeria but also extend its reach beyond the country's borders.

The implementation process has already begun, with the National Commission for Nomadic Education also involved. The radio station will leverage digital technology to ensure lessons are accessible to learners in various locations, with broadcasts expected to cover the entire country.

Edeh emphasized that the initiative is part of the government's digital strategy to ensure no learner is excluded from education due to their location.
