FG Trains 700 Women in Kwara on Tomato, Pepper Farming

The Federal Government has initiated a training program for over 700 women farmers in Kwara State, focusing on tomato and pepper production as part of the Green Hope Project. This initiative, organized by the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) at the Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI) in Ilorin, aims to strengthen food security and improve household incomes.

Engr. Cornelius Olusegun Adebayo, Executive Secretary of NALDA, stated that the program is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to make agriculture a key driver of economic growth.

The training includes practical skills and infrastructure support, with beneficiaries receiving prepared farmland, soil analysis, and water systems for year-round production. The program is set to benefit 5,000 women nationwide, with the Kwara training involving participants from various horticulture clusters.

Olohutoyosi Thomas, the Supervising Commissioner for Agriculture, confirmed the state government's commitment to providing necessary extension services for the program's success.
