Fire Outbreak in Onitsha Causes Millions in Damage

A fire outbreak occurred on Ozubulu Street, Bida Road, Onitsha, in Anambra State, on Thursday, causing damage estimated at several million naira. The Anambra State Fire Service received a distress call at 02:24 hours and dispatched firefighting crews immediately.

The fire was primarily fueled by flammable materials, mainly cartons stored in the building. Firefighters arrived swiftly and managed to control the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.

The firefighting operations concluded at 06:05 hours. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported during the incident.

The cause of the fire has yet to be confirmed, and investigations are ongoing. Chukwudi Chiketa, the head of media and public relations for the Anambra State Fire Service, urged business owners to observe fire safety measures, especially when handling flammable materials, and to report fire emergencies promptly.
