Fire Damages UDUS Medical Library Solar Panels and Offices

A fire broke out at the UDUS Medical Library around 4:00 AM, with the cause yet to be officially determined. The incident, attributed to a power surge, raged for hours before being brought under control by a combined effort of the university's firefighting team and the Sokoto State Fire Service.

Fortunately, the library's main collection of books was not affected, and no significant structural damage was recorded. However, the adjoining offices and the library's solar power installation were completely destroyed.

In response to the incident, Hamidu Ahmadu, the Medical Librarian, announced a temporary closure of the library to allow technical experts to conduct a comprehensive safety inspection and necessary cleaning. Prof. Abdulganiyu Jimoh, the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, commended the swift response of the university administration, led by the Vice Chancellor, university librarian, and other officials.

The university community has been advised to make alternative arrangements during the library's temporary closure, with further updates to be provided as investigations continue.
