Fire Destroys Laboratory at Paul University in Awka

On Wednesday, a fire outbreak occurred at Paul University in Awka, resulting in damage to laboratory equipment and parts of a one-storey building housing a chemical and medical laboratory. The Anambra State Fire Service received a distress call at approximately 1:10 a.m. and promptly deployed firefighters to the scene.

The firefighting operation, which lasted about three hours and involved some members of the public, successfully contained the fire before it could spread to nearby buildings. Preliminary investigations suggested that the fire was likely triggered by a power surge.

Following the incident, the Anambra State Fire Service issued a statement advising residents, institutions, and property owners to maintain and protect their electrical installations to mitigate the risk of future fire outbreaks.
