Five Charged in Plateau State Mass Killing Incident

Five suspects have been charged by the Plateau State Government in relation to a mass killing that occurred on March 28, 2026, in Angwa Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of at least 30 individuals, including children. The suspects, identified as Isa Umar, Ibrahim Auwalu, Abubakar Auwalu (also known as Auwalu Dogo), Musa Abubakar, and Ibrahim Yaroro, face charges that include criminal conspiracy and terrorism, as filed by the State Attorney General, Philemon Daffi.

The charges allege that the suspects conspired to commit offenses related to terrorism, including planning and facilitating the attack. Additionally, one suspect, Adamu Isa Alhassan, faces further charges of culpable homicide and illegal possession of firearms.

The attack has drawn condemnation from Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who described it as an attempt to destabilize the state and emphasized the need for justice and peace. President Bola Tinubu visited the state earlier in the month to meet with victims and assure them of justice.
