ADC Aspirant Urges FG to Focus on National Issues

Niyi Aborisade, an African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, addressed journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday, urging the federal government to concentrate on pressing national issues, including insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, and the rising cost of living. He emphasized that the government should not focus on opposition parties, as doing so would shrink the political space and undermine democracy.

Aborisade highlighted the need for President Bola Tinubu's administration to ensure a free and fair political environment, asserting that silencing opposition voices would lead to a loss of power for the people. He warned that Nigeria's democracy is facing serious threats due to the gradual descent into authoritarianism, citing deliberate efforts to weaken opposition parties nationwide.

Aborisade called for an inclusive government, stating that suppressing dissent will not solve insecurity or create jobs, and stressed that the current administration treats opposition as a threat rather than a legitimate component of democratic governance.
