Zulum to Sponsor 540 Borno Indigenes for Forestry Education

On a recent occasion in Maiduguri, Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, the Executive Governor of Borno State, announced his commitment to sponsor 540 indigenes from Borno State to attend the Federal College of Forestry Resources Management. This pledge was made during the opening ceremony of the 2026 Top Management Retreat for the National Tree Plant Campaign, organized by the Federal Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the Borno State Government.

The event also saw the participation of 27 local government areas, with the theme focusing on environmental sustainability. Balarab Abba Lawal, the Minister of Environment, commended Governor Zulum for his significant contributions to the environmental sector and urged other state governors to provide similar sponsorships for students in various federal colleges across the country.

The initiative aims to enhance forestry education and support environmental restoration efforts in Nigeria, aligning with the government's broader objectives to combat climate change and protect natural resources.
