PTCF Launches Anti-Violence Campaign in Kogi State

The Protect Child Foundation (PTCF) is intensifying its efforts to combat harmful traditional practices and gender-based violence in Kogi State through an anti-violence campaign. The initiative, supported by the French Embassy, includes an art impact event and the dissemination of the Ebulejonu project, which addresses challenges faced by women and girls, including systemic discrimination and harmful cultural practices.

Elizabeth Achimugu, the Executive Director of PTCF, emphasized the urgent need to end gender-based violence and promote the inclusion of women and persons with disabilities. She highlighted the misuse of cultural narratives as justifications for practices like child marriage and female genital mutilation.

The project aims to create an inclusive environment that protects the rights of women and adolescent girls while advocating for economic empowerment and raising awareness through media campaigns. Reuben Joshua and Onuch Isaac stressed the critical role of traditional institutions in addressing harmful practices, while Joi Akinola called for breaking the cultural silence surrounding abuse to protect vulnerable groups.
