Nigeria Launches 2026 PCVE Hub to Combat Extremism

On a designated day in Abuja, Nigeria, the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) partnered with the PAVE Network to launch the 2026 Preventing Counter Violent Extremism (PCVE) Hub. This initiative represents a decisive shift towards a knowledge-driven, whole-society strategy to address violent extremism.

Ms. Iy Mangset outlined five strategic priorities for the 2026 document, emphasizing the need to amplify lessons from past interventions and expand preventive efforts beyond historically affected regions.

Mr. Hate Gaskia, chairman of the PAVE Network, highlighted two major weaknesses in Nigeria's counter-extremism architecture: fragmentation and inaccessibility of knowledge.

The hub will serve as a national repository for PCVE expertise and provide a platform for collaborative learning. It will feature an e-learning portal, a library of relevant materials, and plans to release a digital guide to assist users.

The initiative aims to institutionalize PCVE across government and strengthen community resilience against violent extremism.
